A stiff drink at the Academy Gallery will banish winter from your bones in more ways than one.
On Friday night the gallery will launch its new exhibition Intersections and is using the event to help raise funds for The Examiner's Winter Relief Appeal.
Academy Gallery director Malcom Bywaters said the gallery had always been a strong supporter of the Winter Relief Appeal because it as a grassroots community appeal that helped people.
"It's important the arts community is involved with the general community and this is a way for us to give back for a charitable cause," Mr Bywaters said.

The Academy Gallery has supported the Winter Relief Appeal for a number of years and Mr Bywaters said each year he tried to outdo the previous year's tally.
"I think last year we raised just shy of $1000 so it would be good to beat that this year," he said.
The gallery is planning a few more Winter Relief Appeal events over the next two months.
- Intersections will be launched at the Academy Gallery, Inveresk on Friday July 5 from 5.30pm.
