The Lions Club of Kings Meadows is the latest organisation to chip in to The Examiner's Winter Relief appeal, adding to the more than $25,000 already raised for those doing it tough.
The Salvation Army, City Mission, the Benevolent Society, and St Vincent de Paul are the recipients of donations raised, with a goal of $75,000 this year.
That goal has come one step closer with the Lions Club of Kings Meadows' $2000 cheque.
"We like to donate to this appeal because we feel we are sharing between the charities that are helping those most in need at this time of year," vice president Judi Gorham said.
"We've been donating for many years."
The money was raised through Lions Club barbecues, garage sales, and catering - the famous Lions Club sausage sizzles aren't for nothing.
The club always welcomes new members, with meetings at 6pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 18 Merino Street.
