Dinosaur-obsessed children are about to have the best day of their year: Queen Victoria Museum is hosting a dinosaur-themed activity day at their Inveresk site on Saturday. There will be dinosaur-themed craft and face painting from 10.30am to midday and 1.30pm to 3pm; plus wear your favourite dinosaur clothing or costume for your chance to win a prize as 'best dressed dinosaur' at the midday or 3pm judging; and explore the museum in a dinosaur treasure hunt. All activities are free - and so is parking.

Irish music and dance
Celtic Force are back in action at the Princess Theatre on Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm, with the pipes and drums of St. Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band, and highland dancing by The Celtic Force Dancers and The Fiddle Stix. Macquarie House tour
Originally built around 1830, Macquarie House is headed for the future with its newest tenants: technology start-up company Enterprize, who plan to set it up as a co-working space. But before the budding entrepreneurs move in the public is invited to see the inside of the newly restored building, with tours running between 10am until 1pm on Saturday at the house, Civic Square, free.
First feature film
Wakefulness at Kingsway Bar
There will be a free film screening at 2pm on Sunday at Kingsway Bar: the first full-length feature from Tasmanian writer, director and cinematographer Shaun Hume. Wakefulness is an experimental mystery fantasy with a psychological twist, about a man trying to recollect his life, after a significant trauma he can't remember.

Tin Cup Country hits hotel
New country music gig Tin Cup Country returns to the Bridport Hotel this Friday, with 2019 Golden Guitar Winner Andrew Swift, iconic country singer-songwriter Harmony James, and Tassie's own Blackstone Dukes. Tickets are $25 through Oztix, the Tin Cup Country Facebook page or the venue, with a repeat show at the Royal Oak on July 6.

Feminist queer electro-punk
Hobart punk band Hard Rubbish will play the Greenwood from 9pm Saturday, supported by Quinton Trembath with Hannah Morrell, and Monique How. The band describe themselves as "experimental manic pixie punx who believe music and DIY culture can and will save humanity". Tickets cost $10 on the door.
