City of Launceston councillor Tim Walker asked for an update on the re-installation at the last council meeting and the question was taken on notice.
A response was provided in the current agenda, by the council's acting infrastructure services director Matthew Skirving.
A specific project stakeholder reference group to guide the mall project was created during the redevelopment and it was decided not to reinstall the poles.

The decision was supported by council officers on the basis of additional operational costs.
"It was decided that the flagpoles would not be reinstated as part of the project," the council said.
"This decision was supported by council officers on the basis of the additional operational costs associated with ceremonial flag displays and the management of formal flag directives associated with memorial and other events."
