The latest $70 million subdivision proposed at Evandale has been met with support from the Property Council of Australia Tasmania.

The subdivision is being proposed by the Baker Group and includes a 109 lot neighbourhood titled 'Barclay.'.
Barclay. would be developed on land between Cambock Lane East and White Hills Road.
Property Council of Australia Tasmania executive director Brian Wightman said the council welcomes efforts to increase property supply in Tasmania.
"There's a housing and rental shortage in Tasmania that needs to be addressed immediately and subdivisions like the one proposed are a good step towards providing additional supplies in the market," Mr Wightman said.
"For developments such as this one, they need to develop quickly - traditionally in Tasmania, it has taken a long time to bring these developments to fruition."
Mr Wightman added there are a series of constraints such as local government processes and infrastructure providers that make it difficult for subdivision in Tasmania to go ahead promptly.

"We would hope that the government and the Northern Midlands Council would assist developers to bring this type of subdivision market to development quickly," he said.
As well as residential spaces, the planned subdivision includes a 100 metre by 70 metre public open space.
The project has been in development for 14 years and is projected to take 10 years if approved.
"This is a great idea, you can already see that, they've [Baker Group] been thinking about it for 14 years and now to get this going it could potentially take 24 months," Mr Wightman said.
"We need to start it tomorrow, obviously there's lots of planning constraints and it's got to be publicly advertised and submissions and that aspect but Tasmania needs these kinds of developments started quickly, without a regulatory handbrake being imposed.
"If we are to avoid some of the problems Hobart has faced over just a one per cent population growth, then we need to act quickly."
The Baker Group held a community consultation meeting with residents on Thursday, June 20 with about 70 people attending including a number of which that held reservations about the development.
Baker Group managing director Nigel Baker said, however that the vibe was positive by the conclusion of the meeting once questions had been answered. A development application is expected to be submitted to the Northern Midlands Council soon.
