Upgrade works on the Longford Recreation Ground is nearing an end, with the Northern Midlands Council hoping for completion by the end of the month.

Screening and aesthetic touches on both the exterior and interior of the building are being finalised. Landscaping work and final water connections are also underway. Once opened, further work will be completed on the site's car parking facilities.
When complete the ground will feature renovated clubrooms, male and female changerooms, umpires' quarters and public amenities including meeting rooms and function spaces.

Seating and railing upgrades have also been completed on the grandstand. Environmentally friendly features include rainwater tanks connected to the toilets.
The upgrade is the first major redevelopment managed by the council's works department staff, with a number of local contractors engaged.
