The expected opening date of Riverbend Park has been pushed to late July as construction and landscaping works enter their "final phases".

The vast majority of the physical works have been completed, including the play net, basketball court, feature lighting, concrete works in the water play area and barbecue shelter.
Last month the City of Launceston stated the playground would be finished in June, however the opening date has now been moved to July 27.
Mayor Albert van Zetten said the council was "working very hard with our contractors" and hoped rainy days would not hinder progress.

"We know that each weekend there are children out walking and cycling with their parents on the levee banks who have been peering in through the construction fencing, very excited to get in to explore the space for themselves," he said.
"We don't want to keep them waiting.
"It's a park that really will have something for all ages, and we're very excited to be entering the last few weeks of construction."
