When the sun goes down early, the festival will get under way at the school grounds.
School association chair Ben Cunningham said gas heaters will allow people to explore the 30 market stalls - including those put together by students - in comfort despite the forecast chilly temperature.
"If we have a day like today with clear skies, it'll be a gorgeous night," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We already have 1500 people interested in attending so hopefully we can raise some funds for the school."
The school has moved its fair to biennial, with the Winter Festival replacing the 2019 fair.
Last year the fair raised $2500 to help purchase a 3D printer for students.
This year, the Winter Festival will be in aid of an upgraded playground for the kindergarten to go with a new toilet block.
Mr Cunningham said they were hopeful of raising up to $5000 from the festival, which would go a long way to matching the state government's infrastructure contribution.
Food vans will include fish and chips, Mr Whippy, Afghan and Dutch treats.
Craft beer and wine will also be available, including from Kick Snare Brewing.
The Norwood Primary School Winter Festival will run from 5pm to 9pm on Friday at the school grounds on Norwood Avenue.
Entry is by gold coin donation.
