Blake Chick, of Evandale, is making a documentary about how online streaming has affected society for his year 12 project.
To answer that question the Launceston Big Picture School student is interviewing staff from Village Cinemas and Star Theatre and people of all ages who use streaming programs, like Netflix or Stan.

But he also wants to delve into the time when video stores, like Blockbuster and Video Ezy, were king, to explore the impact technology had on those businesses.
"I was trying to see how it affected their company, with online streaming coming and putting them out of business," Blake said.
"I've been binge-watching a lot of The Office and Parks and Recreation. The Office is like a mockumentary, so it in a way prompted this [project] a little bit, when I was thinking about documentaries."

Blake will also be looking at statistics around DVD usage pre-streaming and illegal downloads.
The end product will be a documentary split into two sections of about 10 minutes each, with the first part focused on film and the second on people.
"I'm thinking about three interviews altogether and adding some stock footage that I'll take and narrate over the top of it," Blake said.
"I'm really heavily interested in film, so I thought instead of just writing about it, I'd make it into a documentary.
"I watch a lot of online movies so I thought it would be cool to do something like that," he said.
He started working on the project at the end of May and it will be finished by November.
"I've always loved watching movies. I started filming, and really enjoyed it, so I thought I might as well do something I enjoy," he said.
Blake started at Launceston Big Picture School in year 9 and is now in year 12.
He wants to study filmmaking next year and find work in the industry.
The eager student has already started to get his foot in the door by making films and taking photos for the Education Department, Launceston Big Picture School, Janie Findlay and Launceston Tornadoes, under mentorship from Andrew Del Vecchio at Doublesee Media.
