The 18-year-old was also disqualified from driving when he was caught travelling 144km/h in a 100km/h zone about 10.30 on Wednesday night.
The driver was on a P2 licence and received an infringement notice for six demerit points, disqualifying him from driving for three months.
"Police remind all motorists to drive to the speed limit and according to the conditions on their licence," said Sergeant Lee-Anne Walters.
"Inexperienced driving and speeding is a dangerous combination of behaviours that puts the driver at the very real risk of seriously injuring or killing themselves or someone else.
