Magpies coach Geoff Mohr said their performance mirrored a tough showing against last year's premiers South Launceston.
"It proved to everyone that when we play good footy we can beat the top sides and it's going to have to be the same this week," he said.
"Our game has never been about five individuals - it's about playing well as a team."
With the Tigers' pressure and spread the key in their round one victory against the Magpies, Longford coach Beau Thorp is weary of their improving opponents.
"They obviously beat Hillwood so they'll be full of confidence. They seem to be a much improved and different side to round one," he said.
Thorp comes back into the side after injury.
Creeping up the ladder into fourth position, SOUTH LAUNCESTON coach Aaron Viney hopes his side can maintain their top four position with a strong showing against Rocherlea after doing the same against Deloraine.
"We got a good look at Rocherlea in the first game and being quite young it was going to take a bit of time for them to work into form and pushing Bridgenorth last week, they've found it," Viney said.
Ben Webb and Brad Keegan will miss for South with Rocherlea to make one change as coach Andrew Cox-Goodyer stewed over their tight losses so far after a close one against flag favourites Bridgenorth.
"It was a numb feeling after the Bridgenorth loss. It's been our third 13-point loss and if we had a couple of those or the six-point loss to Scottsdale go our way, we could be in finals," he said.
"We learnt a bit from South last time. They obviously have a fair few good players and ball-winners but if we nullify them, I feel we are in with a shot."
With two club milestones set to attract the GEORGE TOWN faithful to Blue Gum Park this weekend, the fifth-placed Saints take on Hillwood, who have tasted consecutive defeats.
Coach Allan O'Sign is set to play his 300th senior game alongside Daniel Scott's 100th in the Sharks clash, with O'Sign saying the day is a reward for effort.
"We will touch on it. I'm a believer that milestones are significant but in reality it's just another game. Hopefully we put in a good account and take it up to them," he said.
Blaming the last two losses on poor decision-making and turnovers, Hillwood coach Nathan Lowe is pleased with his side's start to this week.
"The way we've started, I'm really confident. We've had some honesty sessions and got a few things out of the way and it's looking really positive at the moment."
Jarrod Frankcombe and Jake Chamberlain return for Sharks, who have dropped to third position on the ladders as they attempt to get back on the winners' list in a dangerous away fixture.
Several experienced and big-name players could be on the chopping block at BRACKNELL as Andrew Philpott's frustrations grow ahead of their Deloraine clash.
Naming Jordan Blake as a definite to come in, Philpott plans to bring several players up from under-18s and reserves as he is "running out of patience with a few".
"I'm a bit unsure about Deloraine but they played a great game against us in round one," he said.
"We've kicked 16.36 in the last two weeks, so we've had plenty of the ball but not capitalising on goal."
The Kangaroos will have plenty to play for with the club celebrating their 1979 premiership by wearing a replica guernsey as well as their 125th year operating as an entity.
With 15 members of the 1979 premiership side confirmed to be in attendance for the clash, Deloraine will be eager to show the improvement that has been talked about so regularly throughout their matches.
