IN OTHER NEWS:
Perkins said he was looking forward to bringing the show to Tasmania in September, eager to share new material at his performances in Launceston and Hobart.
"The show has evolved," he said.
"We have the core of the show, but we've been able to move it around and change a few songs. It keeps it interesting for us."
Perkins was influenced by Cash early in his career, with the show giving him the opportunity to pay tribute to a performer he admired.
"Cash is responsible for opening the door to the underbelly of life," he said.
"I heard A Boy Named Sue on the radio; it's about a man who wants to kill his father and it's got mud and blood and beer. All these aspects appealed.
"It looks at the dark side and does it in a way that resonated with me."
The Man in Black is at Country Club Tasmania, Prospect Vale, on Saturday, September 7, and the Theatre Royal, Hobart, on Friday, September 6.
