George Town Council has received an award in contributing to regional growth at the Australian Government's 2019 National Awards for Local Government in Canberra.
The council was presented with the award for their work in helping develop the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone.
George Town Council's acting mayor Tim Harris emphasised the importance of the precinct in developing the municipality.

"This award is recognition of the great work of forward-thinking leaders from each level of government and industry, collaborating to secure a prosperous future for the George Town community," Cr Harris said.
The council noted the important contributions made by various stakeholders in the area, including Regional Development Australia, the Office of Coordinator General, project officer Susie Bower and all the industry representatives from the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone sub-committee.
