RSPCA is proposing to open a veterinary service at Invermay, with a development application lodged with the City of Launceston council.

The service would provide consultations for animals the RSPCA has provided for adoption, including follow-up checks, vaccinations and microchipping.
"It is anticipated that there will be up to six consultations per day, which will each involve less than a half-hour period," The development application said.
"The proposed use will not include a veterinary service or veterinary ward, and animals will not be held on-site."

Refit of the site, and the associated signage is expected to cost about $20,000.
Para-veterinary products will also be sold on site, based at 207 Invermay Road.
The shop has most recently been operating as a dog grooming business and a pet store. A retail shop, and a cafe will continue to operating from the site.
The service would operate during normal business hours and will employ two people.
The development application is open for comment until July 1.
