It was a family affair at Launceston Competitions' traditional Irish dancing section on Sunday.
Of the 50 competitors, two generations from separate families competed. Competition organiser Aileen Poynter said she had taught all four and it was exciting they had enjoyed it so much their daughters had got involved too.
"The majority just do it for fun, fitness and friendships, and the traditional Irish music," Ms Poynter said.
Ms Poynter said there were six boys competing in the 2019 event. Group and single events
Adjudicator Gabrielle Hall, from Victoria, was looking for good overall presentation, timing and technique.
Competitors took part from around the state at the event held at the Riverside High School. The competitions continue until mid July.
