Fortunately, the Beauty Point Service Station held a fundraising fuel-up day to help get Mr Spiteri back on his feet.
Service station owner Dannielle Murfet said the business noticed Mr Spiteri needed some help so the community came on board to help him.
In other news:
"Ron's part of the community and we've gotta get behind our community members," Ms Murfet said.
"I'm absolutely blown away I thought even if we raised $500 for Ron it would be positive but we're up over $5000 so it's absolutely amazing.
"The raffle is massive, people are still donating now just to put in for Ron and with the barbecue it's just overwhelming."
Tasmanian Fire Service volunteers that fought the blaze at Mr Spiteri's house were also on hand to show their support.
