Vakarewa, who has also linked up with the Tigers in the WNCL and will be part of the Australia A tour to England, has taken 21 wickets in her 39 WBBL outings and has one ODI under her belt, and with fellow addition Tayla Vlaeminck will make Hurricanes' bowling line-up more dangerous. Vlaeminck and all-rounder Nicola Carey are in Australia's Ashes squad.
"I think it is fantastic and the inclusion of Belinda and Tayla will just make people like Meg (Phillips) and Brooke (Hepburn), who have been really consistent performers for us, more effective,'' batter Corinne Hall said on Wednesday.
The WBBL05 fixture was confirmed on Wednesday, and as well as the Hurricanes' visit to Invermay Park to battle the Sydney Sixers, they will play the Sydney Thunder at West Park for their first home games of the competition on November 2 and 3, during the Recreation Day long weekend.
There will be games under lights at Blundstone Arena against reigning champs Brisbane Heat on November 22 and Adelaide Strikers on November 23 in a festival weekend.
The WBBL will be a standalone competition.
