A flood watch was issued on Wednesday morning for the North-West, North and North-East catchments.
Flood watches are issued as a "heads up" to potential flood activity but are not the prediction of a definite flood.
However, BOM has advised flooding may develop from Wednesday evening as a rain band crosses the state, with widespread totals of 10-20mm expected in the North, North-West and North East.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Elevated areas may experience isolated totals of 20-30mm or 35-40mm.
Catchments in the north of the state are wetter and river rises are occurring as a result of recent rainfall.
Renewed rises are expected and isolated minor flooding may develop as a result of the forecast rainfall.
Catchments likely to be affected include: North East river, South Esk river, Meander river, Macquarie river and the Mersey river.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum of 16 degrees for Launceston on Wednesday.

However, there is a very high, nearly 100 per cent chance, of rain in the afternoon.
Light winds will become northerly in the middle of the day and then tend to northwesterly in the late afternoon.
Rain is also predicted to carry through Thursday, with a top of 15 degrees and a very high (90 per cent) chance of showers, most likely in the late morning and afternoon.
Friday and Saturday will clear slightly, with a smaller chance of rain but another cold front will pass on Sunday and bring cooler temperatures and a 50 per cent chance of showers.
Temperatures are expected to be about 13-14 degrees for most of the week.
