Champions of their East Coast pennant roster, Scamander collected the Cons Pearce Trophy by defeating Prospect Vale at Bicheno last month to win qualification into the state final and the North versus North-West shield.
Having lost the latter in a tough 3-2 clash with Penguin at Mowbray Golf Club, last week's state final against Richmond looked a tough ask with Lesley Kellaway and captain Margaret Thompson already booked in for holidays in Victoria and Brisbane respectively.
In a show of true commitment, the duo cut their holidays short and found flights back home to join Scamander teammates Maryanne Ennis, Bobby Harwood and Gonny Creemers in sealing a 4-1 win at Claremont Golf Club.
Dorothy Weedon, Judy Freiboth, Beth Haas and Marie Dunn also contributed to the team during the pennant season.
