Tasmanian Electoral Commission deputy commissioner Ngaire Edward said that the municipality now faces a number of steps for the election of a new mayor.
Nominations will open Monday June 17, both current council members and the public can be nominated for either position.

Nominations will close on June 27.
A postal ballot will then be sent out to the municipality on July 2 and voting will close 23 July.
Should a councillor be elected as mayor, the position will be offered to the persons who received the next highest votes in 2018's general election.
