Minister for Building and Construction Sarah Courtney annouced the extension in May as part of the government's multi-pronged approach to addressing housing stress in the state.
In Parliament on Tuesday, Ms Courtney said without the extension the $20,000 grant would revert to a $10,000 sum for eligible first home builders and buyers.
"This will extend the $20,000 home owners grant for a further 12 months which will assist Tasmanians to enter the housing and rental market," Ms Courtney said.

Ms Courtney said the grant was also vitally important to support the state's building and construction sector.
"Only last week, ABS data on lending to households and businesses shows that Tasmania's construction industry is still reporting the strongest growth in the nation for the construction of homes," Ms Courtney said.
