We will be forever grateful for your prompt action, for your expert CPR and for your care and support.
The care he subsequently received from the ambulance service, LGH emergency, ICU and 4D departments was outstanding - we are so fortunate to have such dedicated and knowledgeable medical professionals in Launceston.
Unfortunately, we can't thank you all personally, but please accept our immense gratitude.
Di and Phil Paine, Trevallyn.
The National Anthem
A VALID point was made at a recent sporting event regarding Advance Australia Fair.
Australia is one of the oldest continents on earth and our Indigenous people are one of the oldest people.
Therefore it is not suitable to use the words "young and free" in our Anthem "strong and free" would be much more appropriate.
It could be changed by an Act of Parliament.
Many Australians do not know fully the words of the first verse and hardly anyone knows the words of the second verse or even it has a second verse.

Regional Arts Demise
SINCE the demise of Tasmanian Regional Arts, regional and country areas in this state have struggled to maintain any pertinent cultural activity for a diversified demographic living in relative isolation.
With Tasmania's dispersed population, a reinvigorated regional arts program may be considered by either an enlightened state or federal government, or a combination of the aforementioned governments, to help deliver and maintain touring performances for audiences that are being severely neglected and ignored.

Please Explain
THE reports in The Examiner and on the news informs us that the government has given just over $500,000 to the Solomon Islands.
Watching all the greetings and all happy smiles wherever he went made me think of all the homeless people and families having to desperately to get away from domestic violence in this very cold harsh winter we are having.
I don't see smiles as I saw in the Solomon Islands, I see heartbreak, may Australia help these people.
As the old saying goes "look after your own backyard first".
I have been a Liberal all my life but I am learning the Liberal Party doesn't seem to care about the little people.
I personally find the Tasmanian Liberals, who at this moment only care about the tourists, all the infrastructure on the East Coast is just for them.
Listening to the Liberal policies before the election, I never heard over half a billion was going to the Solomon Islands, I wonder how much other monies are going overseas.
L. Morton, Beaumaris.
Aussie Made
AS one who checks labels to make sure our family is buying Australian-made products wherever possible it pays to be vigilant.
For example, one major supermarket is marketing a cracker biscuit (very similar to the name brand product) under their own logo and guess what; they are made in China.
That doesn't help our locals, does it?
If we have to, let's take the magnifying glass shopping, as we know the country of origin on packaging can be pretty obscure, if it's to make sure we're buying Australian.
Our next generation of Aussies depend on it.
Let's get cracking.
Robert Lee, Summerhill.
Labor Party
AFTER the Auditor-General's report on the health crisis in Tasmania was released, the Health Minister Michael Ferguson has convened a meeting with all interested parties including Rebecca White and the Labor Party and the Auditor-General.
Now Ms White has refused to go because she doesn't like the health minister.
How petty is that?
The minister was after a bipartisan approach to this problem.
One must wonder if they have a policy on health at all and only want to criticise.
A few people still remember back to 2011 and 2012 when the then minister Michelle O'Byrne ripped $9 million out of mental health, $58 million out of the health budget and cut 265 health jobs.
By refusing to go to this meeting, I think the Labor Party has started on the road to losing the next election even if it is a few years away.

Seaport Boardwalk
REGARDING Robin Firth's letter (The Examiner, June 7) about ice on the Seaport boardwalk, any surface will be slippery to walk on when we have below freezing temperatures.
I would be more concerned about the litter on dog droppings on the boardwalk as their are a lot of dog owners out there that are too lazy to clean up after their dogs.
