The Pat Ryan-trained son of Fabregas sped over the 452m course in 25.25 seconds while winning by four lengths.
Racecaller Shane Yates described it as "the most exciting racetrack debut since Peco Can set tongues wagging in April 2018."
Greyhound historians have noted that it was the fastest time ever recorded at Devonport by a juvenile having its first start.
By way of comparison, the great Damek, who went on to win 45 of his 61 starts, ran similar time at his first start at Devonport in 2010 but he had raced three times previously at other tracks.
Currajong Kid was midfield to begin from box 5 before charging to the lead on the the first turn and quickly putting the result beyond doubt.
Assistant trainer Brennan Ryan said it was a huge thrill for the family, as Currajong Kid was the first pup they had reared.
"He was actually whelped in Queensland because we weren't set up here at the time," Ryan explained.
"He stayed there until he was three months old then they sent him to us and we reared him.
"It's certainly been a long 18 months to get him to the track but we like to take our time.
"We're not getting carried away but we think he's the best dog we've had in Tasmania without a doubt."
Plans are to give Currajong Kid his next start in a grade 6 race in Hobart on June 20.
This week's main race has attracted a quality field headed by Peco Can, Buckle Up Rose and Landlord.
Peco Can is going for her sixth straight win.
