Joe McCormack's long-range free-kick put Rod Fulton's unbeaten side ahead but a tidy Mitch Roberts finish midway through the second half earned a point for the third-placed hosts.
While Fulton said it was a "scrappy" affair, Olympic coach Andy Hall said his team learned plenty from its first clash with the leaders.
"They were a bit of an unknown but once we figured them out we played our natural game and it was a fair result," Hall said.
Launceston United took advantage of the rare Rangers' slip-up with a 2-1 home win over Ulverstone.
First half goals from Fahim Moradi and a Sam Lowe penalty secured the win.
"Ulverstone were very well organised so it was a hard-fought win," said United coach Glenn Reading.
Launceston City lost 7-1 to Somerset.
