Despite union reports that store would be closing its doors, a Telstra spokesperson said the Brisbane Street store would not be closing and would continue to trade as normal.
"The store is simply changing ownership from a Telstra owned store to a Launceston-based licensee," they said.
"The majority of Telstra's stores in Tasmania operate under this model."
The Community Public Sector Union said the 14 workers from the Launceston store were formally notified of their redundancies on Friday, however Telstra said this was inaccurate.
Telstra also has stores in the North-West and in the state's south.
