The company reached this decision after some time of consultation with the affected employees and has said it would work to find potential redeployment opportunities for them.

The workers were formally notified of their redundancies on Friday.

It is yet to be confirmed on which date the store will close.

This comes a week after more than 50 Tasmanian Telstra workers were told they also faced redundancies last week.

This was part of a nationwide company restructure that will result in 6000 jobs losses by the end of the month.

The union representing the state's Telstra workers said it was working with the company to find work for them in other areas of the business.

Most of the job losses will be felt in Hobart, Burnie, Launceston, Derwent Park and Youngtown.

A handful of positions are set to go in Ulverstone, Scottsdale, Queenstown and Penguin where there are already small workforces.

Community Public Sector Union regional secretary Zac Batchelor said the union had sought to find work within Telstra for workers in the latter four locations but it would require them to relocate if successful.

He said in order to save jobs, the union was negotiating with Telstra to upskill and transition workers to other areas of the business to replace anyone on the workforce who wanted to take a redundancy.

Telstra is cutting Tasmanian jobs in technical services, accounting and call centre divisions.
