Despite falling short of a miraculous comeback against first-placed Geelong on Saturday, the team showed their chemistry is getting stronger.
We can use the break to reassess our offensive and defensive structures, reset our plans and focus on what has been working well for us
- Derrick Washington
Coach Derrick Washington said the team's play was solid through all four quarters against the Supercats and the result gives them confidence going into the second half of the season.
"Geelong was the best team in the league so we expected it to be a tough game for us but overall the team played really solid," he said.
"We know that our local players are stepping up to the plate, even though we didn't have Brittany Hodges who was our lead scorer and rebounder, the ladies competed at a high level and that's what I'm looking forward to."
In other news:
Guard and forward Stella Beck had a strong return to the team after an overseas absence at Saturday's game, notching a double-double.
Washington said the team will spend break watching film, hitting the gym and getting better as a unit.
"We can use the break to reassess our offensive and defensive structures, reset our plans and focus on what has been working well for us," he said.
"For the second half of the season we'll probably be more offensively and defensively in tune moving forward."
Washington said there was no confirmation on whether Hodge will be ready to play against the Huskies on June 15.
