Following on from the CH Smith redevelopment and Silos Hotel, a plan to spend $50 million to build two high living towers near the derelict Kings Wharf is just the latest example of Mr Stewart's out-of-the-box thinking.
To use his own words, Kings Wharf Towers is certainly bold, but doable.
There have been plenty of significant developments and proposals for Launceston in the past five years which have helped create a sense of confidence in the region.
Something a city needs if there is going to be two-fold investment and job creation.
Some people have questioned the need for 44 apartments worth $1 million each, but demand is never going to be high when there are not many on the market.
If you build it, they will come.
Some people have also rightly raised concerns about what impact the new development would have on traffic congestion at the Lindsay Street and East Tamar Highway intersection.
It is a problematic section of road, but perhaps the increased investment will force the state government to take some action - pronto.
The fact is that these type of developments attract additional investment and businesses.
Look at how positive Mr Stewart's Seaport overhaul has been for this city, not to mention Josef Chromy's Penny Royal and The Charles developments to name just a few.
All economic assets for the city.
Grand plans also create confidence and jobs, something Launceston needs to sustain and grow.
That part of the city on the Tamar River banks has the potential to be a social and recreation hub with the Seaport, Silos, the soon to be opened Riverbend Park and the proposed Wharf Towers.
City of Launceston councillors will do their due diligence in assessing the plans, but let's hope all parties can find a way to make it work and by mid-2022 the first of the towers has been a success.
