Having conceded only 42 points all year the Blues will go in as strong favourites, yet the result will almost play second fiddle to the occasion as women's football continues to blossom across the state.
Cognisant of the rivalry enjoyed by their male counterparts, Blues skipper Ashlee Carey and North vice-captain Maggie Cuthbertson are ready to begin their own story.

"We're pretty excited for two reasons," Carey said.
"We're excited to see how we stand up against North Launny and for the rivalry itself, and also just really excited to see how much women's football has grown.
"When I used to play years and years ago there was only one Launny team and we were struggling for numbers, and now we have regional and State League and two teams at that, so it's awesome to see.
"Launceston's been formed for a lot longer than North, they've got a lot of young girls and in a couple of years they'll be a very hard team to beat, so we're happy to see how it grows in years to come."
Teammates at the Blues in 2014, Carey and Cuthbertson have enjoyed different career paths since with the former missing a number of years through travel, and the latter combining a 2017 State League flag at Launceston with a 2018 TWL North flag with Evandale.
Carey, who has slotted flawlessly into the Blues back-line since returning last season, said she and her former teammate had remained great friends.
"I think that's a really great thing about women's footy - yeah we've played with Maggie and we're playing against her and on the field we'll go as hard as anything, but off the field we're still mates and we all go in after the game and have a drink and a bite to eat together, so I think that's really awesome."
The Northern Bombers have enjoyed a roller-coaster start to life in the TSLW, winning their first and third games by 111 and 61 points and dropping their second and fourth by 41 and 68.
Thirty players have already pulled on the red and black this season, with Lucy Sulzberger and Josie Brain the two additions to this weekend's team.
"I think we're taking it really well and coming together really well," Cuthbertson said of the season to date.
We've got a lot of young girls and they're all pretty fit and good at running the ball out.
"Each game we get a little bit better and we're getting to know each other really well."
Launceston will wear a blue and pink strip for the match as the club raises money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
