The union representing Telstra workers believes there will be 50 jobs lost in Tasmania as the company embarks on a major business restructure.

Community Public Sector Union regional secretary Zac Batchelor said the losses would be felt in Hobart, Burnie, Launceston, Derwent Park and Youngtown.
He said technical services, accounting and call centre positions would be targeted.
"A lot of these people are passionate about the work they do and there will be a loss of corporate knowledge and skills in Tasmania," Mr Batchelor said.
He said it was not certain whether jobs would be lost in Scottsdale, Queenstown, Curry, Penguin and Devonport though the union expected those locations to be impacted by the restructure.
Mr Batchelor said Telstra's call centre at its peak employed 300 people and was now down to 70 before the further cuts took hold.
A Telstra spokesman said the company would not release state-by-state numbers of impacted employees.
"We have commenced consultation with affected employees," he said.
