A South32 spokeswoman denied reports that redundancies had already started at Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company's Bell Bay operations.

South32 announced it was reviewing options for manganese alloys smelters internationally, including TEMCO Bell Bay, earlier this month.
"We have two operations producing manganese alloys - Metalloys in Gauteng, South Africa, and TEMCO in Tasmania, Australia," South32's statement said.

However, no decision has been made yet.
"It is too soon for us to understand what the options are," the spokeswoman said.
"There are no redundancies [at this time]. We announced the review on May 14 and will update in October.
"We are going to be working with the community throughout that time," she said.
TEMCO was established in 1962 and is Australia's only manganese alloy smelter, with more than 300 employees and contractors based at the Bell Bay site.
