A premiership player at both clubs, Brown passed away following a battle with brain cancer in February and the two sides have created a memorial match in his honour.

A close friend and work colleague of Brown's, with Keain completing his apprenticeship under his wing, Old Scotch stalwart Tom Pedley said Saturday's game is a fantastic opportunity for his family and friends to be supported.

"Keian was a good worker, fun, outgoing and lived life to its fullest. He respected me and I respected him," Pedley said.

"We won a flag together in 2016 which was pretty cool and he was respected by everyone. The two years were pretty tough for him but he was just so brave.

"He didn't care that he was going to die tomorrow or in two weeks' time, he just kept living the life he was living."

Lilydale captain Corey Lockett echoed Pedley's thoughts as Brown joined Lockett at the Demons having already played juniors at the club, the club captain describes Brown as "the hardest nut I've ever played with".

"He would do anything. If you told him to go run through a brick wall, he'd do it for the team and he hated losing, which was a good thing as well.

"Then he went off to Scotch and actually beat us in the grand final which hurt because it was him and he let us know about it, so that was just the type of bloke he was."

Before playing at Old Scotch and defeating his former side in the 2016 division two grand final, Brown won an under-16 premiership at the Demons, making Saturday's encounter slightly more significant.

On a personal level for the leader of the undefeated Lilydale, the memorial clash coincides with Lockett's 100^th game, having not missed a match since debuting in 2014.

"I'm trying to throw it was from that [my 100^th game] but obviously 100 for me and I'm only 21 so to get that early and not miss a game since I started was probably my goal because I'd told everyone about it."

Avoiding injury since his debut, the key defender achieved senior premiership success in 2017 and says he "would not want to be playing anywhere else".

Having played in many high-profile matches over the years, the two sides sit at opposite ends of the table so far this season with Lilydale undefeated from their seven matches and Old Scotch sitting in ninth, recovering from the loss of distinguished personnel.

Proceeds from the clash will go towards Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer.
