TasNetworks is investigating the cause of an outage affecting more than 200 customers north of Launceston.

As of 6.30pm, 242 customers were affected by the outage across Karoola, Lower Turners Marsh, Pipers River, Turners Marsh and Underwood.
The cause of the outage is unknown at this stage and customers are being told via the TasNetworks website to check back for more information on a restoration time after 7.30pm.
In the state's south, 616 customers are being affected by an outage in West Hobart, after more than 2500 lost power earlier in the evening.
Crews were also inspecting the cause of that outage.
Those with life support equipment or wishing to report shocks or fallen powerlines are encourage to contact TasNetworks on 132 004.
