Tasmania Police is asking for public assistance after a 75-year-old man was struck a number of times during an aggravated armed robbery on Saturday night.

About 9pm two men forcibly entered the man's house in South Launceston allegedly armed with a firearm.
The man lives alone at the Heather Street address.
The two men demanded money from the man. As a result of being struck he has suffered a number of lacerations and other injuries.
The two men fled the scene with a quantity of property.

They are described as being about 20 years old. One was about six feet, of slim build and wearing a face covering. The only available description of the second man was that he is shorter than the first.
Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Gary Williams said police would like to hear from anyone who might have seen two people acting suspiciously in the area of Heather Street between 1pm and 9pm on Saturday.
"Police would also like to speak to anyone who may have CCTV that faces onto Heather Street or any of the other surrounding streets," he said.
