Punters like Andrew Faraonio of Melbourne were keen to visit Launceston for the match.

"Really excited for the game, we're really loving it and the weather's turned out okay," he said.

Mr Faraonio's friend Cody Johnson was the only Hawks fan of their group.

He said the day had been one vs three and a half with 5-month-old Frankie Faraonio lending his support to the Power.

Helen Mackay, of Melbourne, was visiting Launceston with her granddaughter Georgie, 14, who is a footballer herself for a club at Torquay.

"We've found Launceston to be wonderful," Ms Mackay said.

"We went out to the Gorge yesterday and went on the chair lift and saw the monkeys this morning."

David Taylor, of Campbell Town was with his sons Rupert and Walter for the game.

He said it was good to be back at a Hawks game.

"I'm hoping the Hawks get up, it's been a while since I've been to the footy so it'll be good to get back," Mr Taylor said.

Fans like Leo Lynch, of Kings Meadows, had faith that the Hawks would reign victorious.

"I'm always wrapped for it [the game], been a fan my whole life," Mr Lynch said.

"There are no 'ifs', we're gonna win."

Mr Lynch's certainty rang true as the home team crushed the Power 80 to 49.

The game featured a number of Indigenous performers and a Welcome to Country Ceremony.

This was part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round which pays tribute to the Indigenous heritage in the AFL.

The Hawks held Port to zero points at quarter time, and never looked back dominating the visitor the whole game.

After a sunny start the clouds began to roll in at halftime - the rain, however managed to hold off for the afternoon.

The weather did appear to deter patrons, with only 11,637 people attending the game at UTAS Stadium.

The Hawks' next bout at UTAS Stadium will be against the Fremantle Dockers on July 13, followed by their final Launceston game for the season against the Brisbane Lions on July 27.
