The Australian Musical Theatre Festival has launched, and their performances won't be confined to halls and theatres - they are also taking to the streets with Show on the Road.
The festival have gotten their hands on a vintage car - a 1927 Overlander Whippet - and will be hopping inside it and heading along to the Brisbane Street Mall, UTAS Stadium, and the Launceston Night Markets for a series of performances.
Festival artistic director John X said it would make Launcestonians feel like they were in New Orleans.
"The general public won't necessarily want to go to the workshops and forums that we've got, so this is a way of getting out and about among the people - because it's their festival," he said.
