The Launceston Heritage Awards once again displayed the unique ways locals are renovating historic spaces while keeping their rich history intact.

Awards chairperson councillor High McKenzie said the ceremony is a great way to celebrate the work people have put in to rejuvenating historic properties.
"We've got a huge architectural history in this town and it's fantastic to see all of the people that have put forward their submissions for this year's competition," Cr McKenzie said.
"These heritage awards serve a purpose of just of presenting the work people are doing in the community.
"Hopefully what it does is inspires people to look at their house and think 'maybe I can do something like that as well'".
John and Melinda Hutton were the winners of the under $200,000 category with their transformation of Watson House on Frankland Street.
The over $200,000 renovation prize was given to Harrison Group for their work on the Former Gasworks site on Cimitiere Street.
St Matthias Anglican Church won the heritage promotion award for their 175th anniversary celebrations.
The Heritage Snap! photography award winners were also announced, showcasing the skill of younger community members in capturing Launceston's timelessness.
Theo Cook, 13, of Riverside High School was awarded first in the years 7 to 10 category with his photo of a building in Genders Lane.
"It was just a cool warehouse with a nice winch at the top and all sorts of interesting details like the diamonds in the brickwork," Theo said.

Cr McKenzie said it was wonderful to see younger people engage with the heritage of Launceston.
"It's spawned a whole heap of young people wandering around looking for opportunities to take photos of things which they might term as old, but some of the comments they've made about their own pieces were quite insightful," he said.
Annie Howard, 10 of Launceston Preparatory School was awarded first in the years 3 to 6 category.
Phoebe Saunders, 17 of St Patrick's College and Alexandra Phillips, 17 of Scotch Oakburn College were the winners of the years 11 to 12 category.
