Finely dressed tourism operators from across Australia dazzled their way into Launceston's Star Theatre on Wednesday night for the Tasmanian Tourism Conference Gala Night.

Many in attendance spared no expense with the night's vaudeville fashion theme taken to the extreme.
Event manager of the gala Sam Denmead said the evening served as a great way for conference goers to unwind after the first day of the conference.

"People have come from all around Tasmania to Launceston for the conference so we celebrate them here tonight," she said.
The conference is aimed at discussing how local businesses can boost their appeal to tourists.
The 'cinema killed the vaudeville star' theme was chosen due to the Star Theatre's history with the cultural movement.
"At one point we had some vaudeville shows in Launceston, it was an interesting time of life between the 1880s to the 1930s," Ms Denmead said.
"Then the Star Theatre was built and it was one of many theatres that killed vaudeville.
"The Star Theatre is one of the icons of Launceston and we celebrate this venue and the transition from vaudeville to cinema, that's what we're doing tonight."
