Julie Collins, who has won the seat of Franklin fives times, said she would concentrate on ensuring Tasmania remained well represented in Labor's shadow ministry.

"I am not interested in a leadership position but I will keep fighting to ensure Tasmania continues to have strong representation in Labor's shadow ministry," she said.

"I thank the Tasmanian voters who placed their trust in Labor at this election and I want to say to those who didn't, that we won't stop listening to you."

Ms Collins paid tribute to her former colleagues Justine Keay in Braddon and Ross Hart in Bass, for being "fantastic and hard-working local members".

Ms Collins and Labor Party Tasmanian secretary Stuart Benson said Labor would review its policies and campaign.

"We will carefully review the policies we took to the election and the campaign that we ran, nationally and in Tasmania," she said.

"But what Labor will never do is engage in the kind of desperate parochialism of the Liberal party that chose to pit Tasmanians against each other with outright lies, instead of uniting us.

"Tasmanians are sick of this kind of game playing and it is disappointing the Premier and State Government has been so happy to associate themselves with the Federal Liberals campaign."

Mr Benson said Labor 's review would try to understand the reasons for the losses in Braddon and Bass.

"It is clear Scott Morrison's preference deal with Clive Palmer and One Nation really, hurt particularly in Braddon," Mr Benson said.

"The enormous advertising campaign from Clive Palmer predominantly aimed at Labor clearly had an impact.

"The most significant factor on the campaign was the Liberals' scare campaign on taxes."

Mr Benson said the Liberals' "lies regarding a 'death tax' combined with confusion regarding other tax reform policies promulgated through social media had quite an impact".

Labor Party members were throwing their support behind Anthony Albanese on Wednesday before Chris Bowen pulled out of the leadership contest.

Labor member for Lyons Brian Mitchell said Mr Albanese had "the ability to connect with all Australians, whether they're at the pub or in a boardroom".

Mr Albanese won the backing of a majority of Tasmanian ALP members when he stood for leader in 2013.
