The LPO will hold their first concert of the 2019 season on Saturday, May 25.
"Under the direction of it's musical director, Stephen King, the LPO's first concert for the 2019 season is the next best thing to a holiday in Europe," Mr Stocks said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Frenchman Hector Berlioz' A Roman Carnival opens the concert. Berlioz composed this work as a stand-alone overture intended for concert performance, using material and themes from his opera Benvenuto Cellini, and including a large portion of music from the opera's carnival scene.
Russian composer Glazunov's suite Chopiniana follows the overture. This suite features some of the more recognisable themes by the great Polish composer Chopin.
The concert concludes with German composer Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90, known as the Italian Symphony - so named because it was intended to evoke the sights and sounds of Italy. Its final movement, which is among the most dramatic music the composer ever wrote, is notable for its use of the rhythms of Neapolitan dances.
