As I type this email to you all, the newsroom is busy updating the live blog and filing print stories ready to meet our print deadline of 11.30pm.
At the same time the Coalition are set to form government for a third term and Scott Morrison pulled off a remarkable victory. Not just nationally, but in Bass and Braddon.
Just as the poll closed, I hosted about a dozen subscribers in our newsroom and gave them all insight into our coverage, reflected on the election campaign and predicted the seats to watch.
What happens now? Or as one subscriber asked, will they keep their promises?
That is where we come in. The Examiner will spend then next three years holding the government and politicians accountable to their promises and future actions.
But for now, I must run and get this paper to bed, the website updated and ensure the leftover pizza is consumed.
