Rod Fulton praised his Rangers side for doing "all the boring stuff" well having conceded just twice in seven matches which included a sixth win against Ulverstone.
Rob Gerrard and Kwangsoo Park found the net in the 2-0 victory.
"It's the old cliche about winning games by scoring goals but winning seasons by not conceding them," Fulton said.
Neighbours Launceston United did them a favour by thrashing leaders Devonport 7-1 at Birch Avenue through doubles for Yasin Mohammadi and Chris Pickering with singles to Will Rodman, Sam Lowe and Shane Egan.
"It was a good result but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves," coach Glenn Redding said.
Riverside also came to the party with a thrilling 4-2 win at Somerset.
Mitch Roberts put in a strong case for an NPL recall with well taken goals either side of half-time before Will Coert put Andy Hall's men 3-0 ahead.
Matt Jordan and Astyn Johnson gave the Sharks hope before Olympic's tireless teenager Connor Hannes sealed the deal with his first senior goal.
Launceston City went into half-time 2-1 up against Burnie but eventually went down 2-3.
Jarrod Linger and Charlie Dyer scored their goals in a game decided in the last minute.
