A rockstar reception greeted Opposition Leader Bill Shorten when he strode into a trendy Launceston brew pub on Monday night.
It was Mr Shorten's first appearance in Bass since the beginning of the federal election campaign, which is now in its final week.
Bass Labor MHR Ross Hart organised the event, held at Saint John Craft Brew Bar on St John Street, for the benefit of local Labor supporters.

Upon Mr Shorten's entrance to the venue, one man among the Labor faithful gathered there shouted, "The Prime Minister is here!"
The Opposition Leader wasted no time before sitting down at the bar with Mr Hart and ordering a beer. Cheekily, he asked for a Morrison ale.
Mr Shorten delivered a rev-up to his supporters before mingling and taking photos with those who had come to get a glimpse of the man who could be the next Prime Minister of Australia.
Since the election campaign began, Mr Shorten has copped flak for supposedly not having visited Tasmania as much as he could have.
His brief visit to Bass will almost certainly be his last before polling day.
