"And when it comes to people living with a disability, these conversations occur even less often."
Through its series of Good Grief workshops across the state, Li-Ve Tasmania is committed to opening up the discussion around death, dying and bereavement for people living with a disability.
At Li-Ve Tasmania, we know that people living with disability have valuable contributions to make in conversations about death, dying and bereavement.
They are keen to discuss the topic - we only need to provide the opportunity.
"Li-Ve Tasmania has partnered with other service providers to help the parents and carers of people living with disability have the kinds of conversations you and I take for granted," Ms Holliday said.
Imagine if you lost a loved one and everyone around you avoided the topic.
Or imagine you were diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and nobody talked about your wishes for treatment or the end of your life. It's hard to picture - but this is often the experience of people living with a disability.
"Acting with the best of intentions, some people try and "protect" the people they support from difficult or sensitive topics," Ms Holliday said.

"Other parents and carers are willing to discuss death and dying but can't find the right words. That's where we can help.
"From estate planning to learning how to record your wishes, at our Good Grief events, we take a sensitive and light-hearted approach to a serious topic."
A range of specialists present at each Good Grief session.
Attendees can chat to lawyers, therapists, palliative care providers and disability experts.
They can access the information and resources they need to kick-start important conversations in an open, relaxed and easy-to-understand way.
Li-Ve Tasmania's next Good grief event kicks off in Launceston on May 28.
