Kicking 16 goals in his 141-game AFL career, Garland kicked seven in his venture forward during his first game since round a three-goal outing in round one, with coach Richard Robinson labeling the performance "exceptional".
North Launceston midfielder and 2018 Alastair Lynch Medallist, Josh Ponting backed up his successful showing last week with a two-vote game on Saturday as Jack Rushton got on the board for his first votes as a Bomber since his move from Launceston at the start of the season.
Ponting kicked two goals including a long bomb from outside 50 that dribbled through and won a heap of ball for the Bombers as Rushton applied great forward pressure and one per-centers, taking several strong marks and kicking a beautiful set shot from the forward pocket to improve his day.
Glenorchy follower Ben Kamaric leaped onto the leaderboard with a three-vote performance in the Magpies' gripping 11-point win at KGV Oval as coach Paul Kennedy credited his potential to be a superstar at a higher level.
Trailing at half-time, the home side was led by young captain Harrison Gunther who picked up one vote for his defensive prowess as Lauderdale regular as his direct opponent, Ben McGuiness found his way to two votes in the tight loss with five majors.
The Tyler Carter show was well and truly in session at Twin Ovals as the centre-half forward kicked four and produced plenty of tricks in the Tigers' 41-point win over Clarence.
Grabbing the ball out of the ruck, Carter dribbled it through many opponents to kick one of his four and extend Kingborough's lead as opponent Brady Jones jumped to the top of the leaderboard with his third consecutive votes and Ryan Matthews rounded out the trio.
The State League match review panel have been a busy bunch following seven offences being cited from the weekend's play including Northern Bomber Bart McCulloch, who accepted a reprimand for striking.
Mapgie Liam Smith and Tiger Luke Graham have both been offered a base sanction of four matches with an early plea reducing it to three while Aiden Grace and Zac Buechner both head straight to the tribunal.
