Launceston-based Care for Africa Foundation has teamed up with the Star Theatre at Invermay for an exclusive screening of 1942 film Casablanca.

Casablanca is set in North Africa and stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergeman.

Care for Africa Foundation chief financial officer Jenny Saunders said the fundraiser would help in the foundation's core objectives, to provide critical infrastructure and programs to promote health and wellbeing in the remote Mara region of Tanzania.

"The classic art deco Star Theatre operated between 1937 and 1969, so it's probably not the first time Bogart and Bergman have appeared on the screen there," Ms Saunders said.

Care for Africa is a not-for-profit organisation which also works to bring societal wellbeing and economic self-sufficiency to the remote region of Mara.

"The Star Theatre has a growing reputation for supporting locally-based charities and encourages the people of Launceston to attend what will be a wonderful evening while making a contribution to these vulnerable communities in Africa," Ms Saunders said.

The Casablanca screening fundraiser will be held at the Star Theatre, Invermay, on May 24. Tickets are available at startheatre.com.au and are inclusive of a glass of sparkling wine on arrival. Details at the website.
