Having played every game for the Northern Bombers this year, the 17-year-old was named on the wing for the Devils' Sunday clash with Bendigo Pioneers.
Northern Bombers coach Taylor Whitford, who has also seen Jackson Callow and Rhyan Mansell spend most of the season to date in green, described Simpson's call-up as reward for effort.

"That's great for him," Whitford said.
"It means all of our three under-18s that are eligible are playing Devils so we've got him, Rhyan and Jackson Callow that'll play this week for the Devils so that's a really good contribution from our footy club.
"Ben's played the first third of the year with us, he's been made to earn his spot, he's come back and applied himself really diligently and he earns all the rewards that he gets."
Whitford said the former state under-17 representative had put in a power of work over the pre-season.
"He played both the practice games and to play the practice games and not be rewarded with a round one game is pretty deflating for a [17-year-old] boy, he really wants to be playing," Whitford said.
"Within himself he knew he needed to work harder and clean up his disposal and from that you could go one of two ways with kids in their 18th year - he could be down on himself and throw it all in, or he can really start to work harder and earn his spot back.
"He's done the latter and we knew he would.
"He's a North boy, his old man played in a premiership with North and his personality is one of that - he really applies himself to get the most out of whatever he does."
