He was expected to undergo surgery to have pellets from a shotgun removed from his arm on Monday.
Police would not confirm if the victim or shooter lived at the Kennedy Street property and said the house was vacant when they arrived at the scene.
Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Kim Steven said a number of guns were seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
"There are a number of people in the community who seem to think using firearms to settle grievances amongst relationships is acceptable, I'm telling them it is not," he said.
The firearms were being forensically tested and put through databases to determine if they were registered or stolen.
Detective Inspector Steven said the shooting was not drug related.
"It's fair to say that all these people are known to police," he said.
Police continue to work with the victim in relation to the shooting.
"We will investigate these matters whether we have the assistance of the victims or not," Detective Inspector Steven said.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crime is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
