A baffling 114-67 defeat on Saturday night came at the hands of last season's wooden-spooners Frankston Blues, who claimed just two wins in the farewell year of the SEABL competition.
The capitulation blasted away last season's 28-point home loss to the Sabres.
The latest enigmatic run has now left the Tornadoes vulnerable with a dubious 2-4 record ahead of another suburban Melbourne road trip up to Eltham on Sunday.
But Washington is remaining positively upbeat, feeling the final scores was something of an aberration.
"When you don't have your point guard in there leading the charge, it's kind of tough," he said.
An injured Stephanie Gardner was substituted off the court in the final two and a half minutes of the first half.
Washington said the loss of the captain entirely threw off the balance of the side.
The visitors struggled from the outset against a spirited Frankson, trailing by nine points after just six minutes.
The Blues scored 28-14 in the second term to lead by 21 points at half-time.
It got horribly worse.
The lead blew out to 32 and eventually 47 points.
"We just didn't execute - execution was a factor. After Steph went out, they disrupted us of what we wanted to do," Washington said.
Brittany Hodges still had a monster game with 19 points and 19 rebounds.
Stella Beck sunk 15 and pulled down 11, while Sarah O'Neill had 12 and 12, numbers that satisfied the coach.
"The positive thing is we rebounded well and got second-chance points, but we turned the ball over too many times," he said.
"You can't win a basketball game when you turn the ball over 34 times."
