The Launceston teenager has struggled to balance an AFLW career with demands from Cricket Tasmania as the two sports enter greater professionalism for females.
"There was a bit of a clash this year and that's only going to get worse over the next couple of years," Webb said.
"It was looking a bit hard if I wanted to continue playing WNCL for Tasmania.
"Just to continue playing AFLW, I would've had to be based in Melbourne for five months of the year when I need to be in Hobart 10 months or basically all year.
"So it was getting a little bit difficult with regard to how fast the two were growing."
The 163cm midfielder was drafted pick 17 in the 2017 AFLW draft and played two games in her debut season.
Carlton issued a statement that Webb's contract was one that would not be renewed after niggling injuries kept the 19-year-old sidelined.
Webb was thankful for her time around the professional environment that had earned the Blues a grand final spot against premiers Adelaide.
"I knew eventually I would have to make the decision on one of the sports," she said.
"I was hoping it would just happen a bit further down the track. It was going to come to this stage eventually and I was pretty lucky to get two seasons at participating at the highest level for both."
The allrounder is contracted to WBBL club Melbourne Renegades and 12 months ago toured South Africa with the Australia under-19s.
The decision to focus on cricket was not clear cut.
"I don't think it was always cricket," Webb said.
"I have always been 50-50 on the two sports. At the moment, it's just about opportunity and where am I going to get the best out of myself as an athlete in general."
Webb will play "socially" for TSLW club Launceston around cricket commitments. Tasmania resumed training last Wednesday.
She also won't shut the door on nominating a return to the AFLW in the future.
"There is always that opportunity to return to footy if things don't work out in the cricket space," Webb said.
"I'm only young, but hopefully I will have a couple of good cricket seasons and see where that can take me."
